Mauricio Paez, a partner in Jones Day's Cybersecurity, Privacy & Data Protection Practice, has been named to the New York State Bar Association Task Force on Autonomous Vehicles and the Law.
The task force will bring together experts from different sectors—including legal, tech, business—and everyday New Yorkers for a series of hearings to study the impact that autonomous vehicles have on our legal system and society, and make recommendations on how New York State and its legal institutions can prepare.
"Autonomous vehicles will revolutionize transportation and create new opportunities," Mr. Paez says. "It is an honor to join other legal leaders to propose policy and laws critical in defining the future of autonomous vehicles in not only New York, but throughout the country."
Hearings will be scheduled in the coming weeks in New York City, Albany, and Buffalo. The task force is expected to present its report and recommendations in 2020 to NYSBA's Executive Committee and House of Delegates.
