Jones Day named "Litigation Department of the Year" winner by The American Lawyer for 2018

January 2018

Jones Day has been named the winner for the General Category of The American Lawyer's biennial Litigation Department of the Year competition for 2018.

"This is a terrific honor that reflects our ability to protect and advance the interests of our clients through a new generation of deeply talented and experienced trial and appellate lawyers," said Glen Nager, Client Affairs Partner at Jones Day. "We are proud of this new generation's track record of seamless collaboration on behalf of clients, in the toughest litigation matters, and in different venues throughout the country and around the world."

In its cover story highlighting the Firm’s win, The American Lawyer wrote, "What's clear is that the ability to harness the right talent from across the firm’s 1,100-litigator ranks helped Jones Day litigators deliver a big victory in the Idenix case and many others. In the contest period, August 2015 through July 2017, Jones Day won in forums that ranged from the U.S. Supreme Court to the trenches of state court, recovered billions for companies it represented, and turned back billions more in claims against other clients."

"We congratulate and thank the extraordinary professionals at Jones Day for their dedication to shared professional values and their hard work each day to provide collaborative and creative solutions for clients across practices and offices," said John Majoras and Stephanie Parker, co-leaders of Jones Day's Business & Tort Litigation Practice. "We could not achieve this recognition without these outstanding efforts. We also, of course, thank The American Lawyer for recognizing our good work on our clients' behalf with this honor."

"We are grateful for the confidence our clients show in our work and look forward to continuing to build on these successes in the months and years ahead," said Anthony Insogna, leader of Jones Day's global Intellectual Property Practice. "We are proud of this honor, the deep talent we have across our practices and offices, and the way we join forces on our clients' behalf."

This is Jones Day's second time receiving the Litigation Department of the Year award from The American Lawyer, having also won in 2002 (the inaugural year of the contest). Since then, the Firm has been recognized as:

- Winner, Product Liability Department of the Year (2004)
