Andrew Felton joins Jones Day's Corporate Practice in Sydney

Andrew Felton has joined the Firm as of counsel in the Corporate Practice. He is based in the Sydney Office.

Mr. Felton has more than 15 years of experience as a corporate transactions lawyer in Australia and the United States. He has represented corporations and private equity sponsors on mergers, equity and asset sales, acquisitions, take-private transactions, recapitalizations, corporate restructuring transactions, venture capital financings, and strategic investments. He regularly advises on cross-border transactions and counsels clients on a broad range of matters, including corporate governance and reorganizations.

"His experience working in both Sydney and New York City provides him with an important perspective on cross-border deals and his ability to represent U.S. corporates in Australia and Australian corporates considering U.S. investments makes him an excellent addition to our global practice."

At Jones Day, Mr. Felton joins the Firm's global Corporate Practice, encompassing M&A and Private Equity. Mr. Felton will work alongside his Jones Day colleagues to advise corporations and private equity sponsors on transactions and other corporate matters. Jones Day's transactional practice in Australia spans four offices: Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney. The Firm provides seamless cross-border service, covering both U.S. and Australian law aspects of any transaction. The team regularly advises on M&A transactions, including public company takeovers and schemes of arrangement, as well as negotiated private acquisitions and dispositions, including in contested sale processes.

Mr. Felton began his legal career in Australia, working as a corporate associate at a law firm and then working as an in-house lawyer at Optus Telecommunications on a secondment. He subsequently relocated to New York and spent the past 12 years as a private equity/M&A lawyer in private practice. He earned his bachelor of laws degree from the University of Technology in Sydney and studied international trade law at the University of Hamburg in Germany.
