Jones Day opened its offices in Washington, DC in 1946 with four lawyers. Today, approximately 250 lawyers practice in the historic Acacia Building with spectacular rooftop views of the Capitol and in an adjoining state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly building designed by Pritzker-award-winning architect Sir Richard Rogers. Our attorneys represent clients nationally and internationally in a broad range of practice areas, including: antitrust, government regulation, labor and employment, employee benefits, intellectual property, trial and appellate litigation, product liability, energy, health care, investigations and white collar defense, securities enforcement, tax, M&A, financial institutions, and bankruptcy.

Jones Day operates as One Firm Worldwide. Our clients receive the benefit of interdisciplinary teams of professionals with the experience and geographic coverage appropriate to address their needs. Our global reach, management structure, and integrated technologies are all designed to permit us to respond seamlessly across offices and practice specialties. Our award-winning client service is the result of this single-minded focus on delivering the best of the Firm to every client engagement.

At Jones Day, we strongly encourage all of our professionals to participate in pro bono and other public service activities. Washington lawyers are involved in a wide variety of matters ranging from criminal appeals to immigration and housing cases to staffing legal clinics. Our efforts in this area were recognized in 2009 when the firm was awarded the "Pro Bono Firm of the Year" by the District of Columbia Bar.
