Jones Day’s presence in California dates back to 1973, with the opening of our Los Angeles Office. Today, Jones Day’s integrated West Coast practice boasts five offices across California, and the Los Angeles Office provides the Firm’s clients with a full range of litigation and transactional services domestically and abroad.
Our skilled trial lawyers have a wealth of in-depth experience in the following areas of litigation: product liability and toxic torts, appeals, complex business disputes, class actions, antitrust, insurance recovery, distressed companies, bankruptcy, labor and employment, intellectual property, securities, and investigations and white collar defense. Additionally, the Los Angeles Office has extensive transactional and advisory capabilities in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, technology transactions, tax, ERISA, and investment into and from Asia. Our lawyers serve clients in many areas, including health care, energy, consumer products, retail, hospitality, finance, technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, construction and development, and the public sector. Our One Firm Worldwide organization enables lawyers in Los Angeles to call upon the skills and experience of 2,500 lawyers on five continents to efficiently and effectively address our clients’ most complicated legal challenges, anywhere in the world.
The attorneys in the Los Angeles Office are recognized leaders in the legal community. Among other honors and accomplishments, our lawyers have chaired the bipartisan Judicial Advisory Selection Committee for the Central District of California, presided over the L.A. chapter of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, and served in various leadership posts with the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association. The Los Angeles Office’s substantial pro bono efforts further underscore our commitment to the Los Angeles community. We have been awarded "law firm of the year" honors from many of Los Angeles’ legal services organizations, including Public Counsel Law Center (twice), Bet Tzedek, the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice (LACLJ). In recognition of our work with the LACLJ's Advocate program, we received the 2010 State Bar of California President’s Pro Bono Award.
