Artificial intelligence, robotics, and other forms of sophisticated technology are on the verge of revolutionizing the automotive and transportation industries, as well as other traditional sectors. At the forefront of the legal issues confronting these industries is the allocation of ownership interests in, and protection of, intellectual property rights as new companies, partnerships, and joint ventures form to develop, license, and deploy the new technology. Patents, if available for software, and trade secrets offer different advantages and disadvantages for protection. Licensing of technology can bring rewards and risks.
But in addition to protecting technology, companies must be aware of and adapt to government policies and regulations, which can impact the ability to test, implement, and profit from the new technology. This seminar will bring Jones Day lawyers together with government and industry authorities to address intellectual property issues, government policy and regulation, and business arrangements important for both start-up and large companies.
