The global law firm Jones Day ranks as one of the profession's premier firms in the quality of its associates, according to a new report released by the BTI Consulting Group.
In compiling its "Law Firms with the Best Associates" report, BTI surveyed more than 300 corporate counsel who were asked to name law firms—in an unprompted manner—having associates who gain the respect and recognition of clients. Jones Day was one of only eight firms to receive the commendation. Jones Day’s approximately 1300 associates represent more than 25 practices from 43 offices across five continents.
"Very early on, we instill in our associates the importance of our shared professional values that focus on addressing client needs, and the value of seamless collaboration across practices and jurisdictions," said Glen Nager, Jones Day's Client Affairs Partner. "As an integrated law firm serving clients as one firm worldwide, our commitment to client service means we recognize that partners and associates alike contribute in a variety of ways, our lawyers work together in an atmosphere where teamwork is essential, respect for and from colleagues is the norm, and credit is shared for a job well done."
The BTI report also noted the four essential skills evident in top-performing associates, which include Listening, Writing, Anticipating, and Researching.
BTI Consulting recently ranked Jones Day #1 in the strength of its client relationships in its 2017 BTI Industry Power Rankings report. That followed the March 2017 ranking of the Firm as #1 overall in BTI's Brand Elite 2017 survey. Also, in November 2016, Jones Day was ranked #1 in BTI Consulting's "Client Service A-Team" survey, securing "Best of the Best" status in all 17 activities that clients say drive client service.
